First Aid/Defib Training - Junior room pupils

Our Junior room pupils completed training today with Polly on basic first aid and defib training.

They learned all about the number 999 or 112 to call in an emergency and the importance of knowing our Eircode.

Pupils were given a demonstration on how to correctly position our hands before putting them down on a person who needs CPR and then the pupils themselves got to practice individually  CPR on dummies in the class room.

Our pupils then got to explore what steps to do if someone was choking, Polly brought a special device where pupils got to practice the Heimlich maneuver.

Towards the end of the sessions pupils got to practice putting bandages on each other.

Everyone received a  First Aid badge and a little First aid themed gift.

This was an extremely important workshop for the children to participate in. Please ask the children some questions later today about the workshop and also let them learn their house eircode.

Well done to everyone and a huge thank you to ‘Polly’ Pauline Nolan for coming in to see and giving up her free time to teach the children.

Active Movement Break Week

Last week our school took part in the 'Croke Park movement breaks' as part of the Active Breaks Challenge for 2026. These challenges have been supported by the GAA who, working with the Active School Flag team, have created a set of English and Irish movement break videos to support this initiative, each of which is filmed at a different location around Croke Park.

Our Classes got behind-the-scenes look at where the team buses arrive, inside the players’ dressing rooms and the warm up areas where legends get game ready. They also got to learn interesting facts about Croke Park.

Pupils from all our classes took part in these movement breaks last week and really enjoyed it.

Well done everyone!! Great Job!

This year we held our annual Sports Day on Tuesday 24th June

Again the weather gods were with us and it was a lovely warm dry day. All the pupils were divided into teams of mixed classes and the theme for the day is that each pupil was to do their best, encourage their teammates and have fun!!!

It was a fantastic day and all our pupils were great teamplayers and had great fun. As always our senior pupils minded and took care of our smaller ones and showed them how everything was done.

We ended the day of sports with a tug of war and so many parents took part. It was great fun and very competitive!!.

Each pupil got a lovely medal for participation and we had also were treated to gorgeas snacks on the day with ice creams.

We also presented our 6th class with their traditional going away gift which included a gorgeas personalized hoody, a framed class photo, a personalized candle and a personalized keyring as a memento for their time spent at Scoil San Eoin.

Huge thanks to the Parents Reps and all the parents who helped out on the day,

Grandparents Day

What a special day we had for Grandparents Day! We had lots of VIPs turn up to interact with the pupils today, tell them about their time in school and mingle with some old friends. Today also gave the pupils an opportunity to show the Grandparents how they learn now, and how we use all of the ‘mod cons’ in our teaching and learning in the classroom. Grandparents also got a nice cup of tea and some artwork to bring home with them as a memento. Many thanks to all that helped out, sent in photos, baked and came in to help on the day. We are already looking forward to the next one!
