Aistear
Aistear is a thematic curriculum framework for developing literacy and numeracy skills through play. The word Aistear is the Irish word for journey marking the beginning of children’s lifelong learning journeys. Curriculum subjects covered during Aistear include: S.E.S.E., S.P.H.E., oral language, reading, writing, maths, art, music and drama. During the Aistear hour, the children engage, for example, in role play, games, construction, artwork and real-life situations all based on current themes in the classroom.
In Scoil San Eoin we are gradually incorporating Aistear into our teaching in the Junior classroom and the pupils are really embracing and enjoying it!!
