Engineering week at Scoil San Eoin.

Children will be doing lots of fun activities as part of Engineering week. They will be designing and making marshmallow towers, they will make jelly and design a earthquake proof building that can withstand the shaking of jelly!!

All children will be participating in an engineering challenge as follows:

Design a car from recyclable materials or items they already have at home. The car should travel at least one metre and for JI-2nd class this car can be pushed to propel it  forward. However the older classes can choose an energy source to power their car eg. a balloon attached to car so the air from the balloon can propel it forward.

Dear school ,

my name is Philip Hamilton and I am an academy coach with the wdsl (Wicklow district schoolboys/girls league ) . We in the league oversee all underage soccer played in the county , as part of our continued development we have started an all girls academy at  under 10 - under 12 & under 14 . Girls soccer is the fastest growing sport in Ireland at the moment and we would like to offer all girls in Wicklow the opportunity to come to our next open training session in east Glendalough school Wicklow town this Sunday feb 11th  from 4.30 pm to 6pm .

This is a great opportunity for girls who are either currently playing soccer or those who wish to start  and get coached by our group of qualified - garda vetted coaches .

I would be very grateful if you could pass this information on to all the girls in your school  and help them take the first step to possibly becoming the next Stephanie Roche !! Should you have any queries relating to our girls academy or if you would like to enquire into coaching sessions in your school please do not hesitate to get in touch ,

                 kind regards

Grandparents Day

Happy-Grandparents-Day-2014-Images-Pictures-Wallpaper.jpg

Today's Grandparents day was a great success and we had a brilliant turnout, thank you to all the Grandparents that visited us.

To start the day all the grandparents were given nametags and divided into 2 groups for a question/answer session.

Our junior room read a lovely poem.

Our senior room are currently exploring the 1950/1960s period and this was spoke about. The grandparents gave examples of their first jobs, what fashion was like and what games & toys were around for them in that era. It gave the children a great insight into what life was like back then towards now.

We had tea/ coffee and refreshments which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Rotation stations were set up with the children demonstrating Maths/Games/Arts & Crafts/IT & jigsaws - The grandparents were able to view all of this happening and speak with the children as they went along.

A special thanks to Tess Kenny who took the time to showcase her craftsmanship of knitting/sowing and crocheting - Everyone enjoyed this part of the day.

And finally a huge thanks to our Parent Reps who set up, helped out all morning and then cleaned up after everyone had left.

The day was a great success and a special Homework pass was given by the teachers for all the good behaviour!
