We had the honour of having a visit from the local legend Mary Hickey from Arklow on Friday 11th May. Mary has just completed a lap of Ireland running in aid of the RNLI and has raised well over €50,000 for the cause.
Age 65, she has been running for 50 years and has completed all 38 marathons.
The children got to speak to Mary and ask her questions all about her experience and travels as she ran around Ireland.
It was a great morning and a huge thanks to Mary for visiting Scoil San Eoin!
We have been notified that our school is to be used as a polling station on Friday 25th May 2018. Therefore, we are not permitted to open the school on that day. The school will be closed and no activities will take place in the building that day other than voting.

World Book Day was a great success at Scoil San Eoin. The children and parents made a great effort in coming up with ideas and great costumes. The school was a great array of colours on the day. Well done to all students.
All names were put together to choose the winners of the 2 book vouchers for the Reading Challenge.
Cian Maher and Abigail Byrne were the winners and received a €15.00 book voucher each. Well done to them both and to everyone else that took part!
We have been asked to inform all parents that the HSE Dental Service in Wicklow has moved from Glenside Road to the new Wicklow Primary Care Centre, Port Road, Rathnew with effect from Monday 09th April. The telephone number 076-6959044 has not changed.
We had our annual open day on Sat 14th April for all new pupils. This was combined with the Scholistic Book Fair. Our new pupils were able to view the school and classrooms and meet the teachers and pupils. They also got to meet 'Clifford the dog' on arrival. The children and parents were able to enjoy all the lovely treats and refreshments and choose a book if they wanted to.
Overall the day was a great success and was enjoyed by all.

We are writers book is a composition of wonderful short stories and poems written by the pupils of Scoil San Eoin. The pupils worked extremely hard to finish the book. It is a wonderful keepsake for years to come.
It is now available to view in the office and to order.
The cost is €8.00 and payment must be received with orders.

The Scholistic book fair will be at Scoil San Eoin from Sat 14th April until Friday 20th April.
Pupils will get a chance to look through the stands and choose a book if they would like to purchase.
Any books that are not on the stands will be available to order.
The children had a visit from the Easter Bunnies on Friday 23rd March before the holidays and were delighted when they received some lovely chocolate treats.

Scoil San Eoin are holding their annual open day this Sat 14.04.2018 from 12 Noon. This will be an opportunity for new parents and children to come to the school and view the surroundings and meet the teachers and staff.
There have been signs placed around the area to let people know of the details but please also help spread the word!

The mobile library will be at Jones Pub in the village on Monday 26th March.
Due to Storm Emma we recently had to close the school. The school and surrounding grounds were covered in a blanket of snow.
Thank you to everyone who helped over the weekend to get the school ready for Monday - There are too many to mention but a special thanks as without your help the school would of remained closed and another valuable day wasted.

Children in 4th/5th and 6th class Plan, Design and Build bridges. The children plan the material from which a structure is made and they try to strengthen the material by changing it's shape.
They designed bridges with arches and triangles where the curve of the arch spreads the load on the bridges and makes it stronger. See they fantastic designs below!
