JEP Stall at Sports Day

The final produce from the Junior Entrepreneur team will be on sale at the Sports Day. We encourage all parents attending to support the pupils and the school by purchasing a can/postcard etc as a present or momento. Also, dont forget the PA will be holding a raffle on the day for a lovely weekend get away.

Teddy Bear Memories

The senior class became very nostalgic from learning the poem 'Teddy Bear's Lament by Tim Price! We decided to turn back time and that each person would bring in their oldest dearest friend who has been through many adventures with us - our Teddies! The pupils introduced their teddy to the class and recounted an adventure or favourite memory they had together. Then the class had a Teddy Bears picnic, just like old times!!All pupils then typed up their recount and painted a portrait of their favourite buddy. Ms Greene even had her Mum send up her oldest (and slightly worn!) friends Lisa and Rainbow to join the party!!

Annual Sports Day

The Annual Scoil San Eoin Sports Day will take place on Monday 26th June. The Parents Association will be organising the usual fun and festivities on the day, but as always will need as many parent volunteers as possible to man stations, serve teas/coffees and a host of other jobs . Anyone who is available on the day please contact a member of the PA or the school office. It is a great way to end the year and a way for parents/guardians to get involved with their child and the other pupils in a fun environment.

Some practicalities for the day:

  • Please ensure your child has sun screen, hat etc if the sun is shining.
  • Please ensure your child has extra drinks and lunch  as they will be more active.
  • All pupils must wear their uniform on the day - navy tracksuit/shorts - and comfortable shoes
  • Pupils may be finishing early depending on how the day runs but teachers will be here until 3pm as per usual for those that need to stay on.
  • If the weather turns, the sports day may be changed to Tuesday. Parents/Guardians will be notified asap.
  • The list of teams and what colour top your child must wear coming in on the day will be posted here asap and the pupils will be notified by their class teacher.

High Achievers!

Well done to David Baron who  was in the Division 2 Leinster competition for swimming at the NAC. He achieved a time for the upcoming IAG Nationals in Limerick.

Also well done to Ella Brennan and Aleksandra (Ola)  Czerwinska. Both competed at Boswell Equestrian and received rosettes. Ola got a clear round in Jumping and Ella came 4th in the U10 Dressage.

Junior Entrepreneur County Showcase in Roundwood

The pupils  of the Senior Room had a very successful and enjoyable day in Roundwood at the Junior Entrepreneur County Showcase Day. All the pupils got a chance man the stall to showcase and sell the product, and make a further profit! They then got to take a look at what the other schools chose to create and sell. We also collected the school plaque and individual certificates for completing the project. Everyone was very complimentary about the product and how well informed the pupils were. Don't forget there are still some cans, postcards and cards for sale from the school!!!

Disturbances during school hours

We would like to ask all parents/guardians to have consideration for pupils and teachers and  please do not allow younger children/siblings to run around the school grounds playing. before and after the 2pm and 3pm pick up, but to remain outside the school gate. This has become increasingly obvious during the last few weeks of good weather as the class windows have been open and/or classes are taking place outside. Both pupils and teachers have become distracted by the noise and movement, and find it difficult to concentrate. We would like to remind parents that younger siblings are not covered by insurance while  playing on school property and ask for your cooperation in this matter.

Senior Room School Tour

The Senior Room will be going on their school tour to the National Sports Campus in Blanchardstown, Dublin on Friday June 23rd.  This is an action packed, activity based tour which will involve a tour of the campus and facilities where elite athletes train, 4 activities (gymnastics, trampolining, multi-skills and athletics) and then a fun time in Aquazone Water Park. Bus will depart at 8:45 from the school, and will be leaving Blanchardstown at 2.30pm. Cost of the tour is 35 euro per child and parents/guardians can pay directly or authorise to take the money from the school bank by filling out and returning the slip that will be sent home. Pupils will need to bring a large packed lunch with extra drinks, swimming gear and towel, 1 euro coin for the locker, and be dressed in the usual tracksuit and school uniform with comfortable runners. Money/Slips to be returned to school by Monday 19th June. Healthy Eating Policy and Code of Beahaviour apply and all pupils must have a note from parents/guardians if they wish to bring their phone/ipod. Pupils will not need any spending money on the day.

JEP County Showcase Day

The senior room will be attending the Junior Entrepreneur County Showcase Day in Roundwood on Thurs 25th May. This is the final part of the programme where all the schools in Wicklow who took part in the JEP Programme come together to show/sell their products and celebrate all their hard work (including a disco!!). As well as Ms Greene, the pupils will be accompanied by Claire Jenkinson and Michelle Redmond who have assisted the pupils with the programme at various stages throughout, and have played a huge part in putting together the final batch of products and the displays for the stand. The pupils will be leaving the school at 9.20 and will return at approx 1.30. The pupils have paid for the bus from the profits they have made so far!! Well done Entrepreneurs!! We are all very proud of you!!

13th of May Holy Communion Day in Barinskey Church

A successful day was had by all who put in massive efforts to make the day so meaningful and memorable. A word of thanks to the organist Ian Jones, the beautiful flower arrangement in the church thanks Lorraine, our Server Sarah Shanley thank you for assisting on our special day.  The Light refreshments were enjoyed by all who attended in the community centre and thanks to the people who donated baked goods,  a big thank you to the parents who decorated the hall and organised the tea and coffee. Many thanks for the beautiful  bouquet of flowers.   Congratulation to the Holy Communicants and many thanks to Father Byrne for his involvement.

CPR with Pauline

Pauline Nolan will return to complete further CPR training with the pupils of 5th and 6th class on Tues 16th May. She will complete 2 x hour long sessions which will ensure that the pupils have basic CPR training and will be taught the steps to take in the event of an incident. This is a vital skill to learn and we are very grateful to Pauline to take the time to pass on her knowledge.

Uniforms

As the warmer weather has arrived (for however long!) I would like to remind parents of the uniform policy during this time. Pupils are allowed to wear plain navy shorts as part of their uniform. Sports shorts of any other colour, with writing or bright colours are not permitted as part of the pupils uniforms. I would also like to remind parents that pupils are to wear plain white, black or dark coloured shoes/runners as part of their uniform.  Finally will all parents/guardians ensure that all coats, jumpers etc have your child's name on it.

We wish to ensure that all pupils look well presented and ready for learning each day, while also remaining comfortable during the hot days.

Confirmation 2017

Well done to the 5th and 6th class on doing Scoil San Eoin and their families proud on their Confirmation day. All pupils did a fantastic job in preparation for the day and this showed through their singing, Offertory Procession, Prayers of the Faithful and through the active and confident part they playeed in the whole ceremony. A huge thank you to the PA, especially Caroline Mooney and Nicole Keogh who helped in decorating the church and to all who contributed baked goods and treats. I hope all the pupils had lots of fun and have fond memories of their special day. Thank you to Claire Jenkinson for the lovely photos.

CONGRATULATIONS SCOIL SAN EOIN

A special thanks goes out to the Green School Committee Members especially the class reps who have done an amazing job and it hasn't gone unnoticed for their dedication and time given after school!! We will commence the first steps in September to embark on our third Green Flag.

An Enjoyable Retreat!

The 5th and 6th class retreat day to Glendalough was a great success. The pupils enjoyed a very relaxed, enjoyable and informative tour around the beautiful scenery. They meditated and contemplated the ideas of Confirmation through the examples of stories of St Kevin. They finished the day by renewing their Confirmation commitment.  A huge thank you to Fr. Pat of Tearmann Spirituality Centre and Mrs. Behan for making the day so enjoyable.
